Welfare Innovation Foundation (WIF)
OVERVIEW
Established in 2020, the Welfare Innovation Foundation (WIF) is a non-profit organization based in USA. WIF's mission is to create a network of centres, volunteers, specialists and ancillary workers to support and complement the existing medical services and infrastructure in India.
Even if we utilize 100% of GDP allotted for healthcare, which is impossible, we cannot meet the ever increasing need for healthcare in India. 97% of the Indian population is unable to contribute towards the total tax collection, but their health needs are similar and maybe even more than the ones who are paying taxes. Many of these needs can be met if people can help each other, provided they are prepared to do so.
The foundation is founded and headed by Florida (USA) based Dr. Purushottam Garg. WIF's initiatives are built around its founder's core vision of, "Innovative Solutions for Healthcare - of the people, by the people”.
WIF is supported by a dedicated team, both in the USA & India. As of now, as part of its mission and for fulfilling its social responsibility, WIF is building various proactive partnerships in India.
We at the Welfare Innovation Foundation believe that everybody can learn certain simple skills which can be used for their own healthcare, and for the care of their families or communities. Our challenge is to develop systems to accomplish this giant task.
WIF FOUNDER
Dr. P. K. Garg has over 50 years of experience in the field of medicine. A pioneer in providing affordable quality care and telemedicine, he believes that everyone can be trained in a basic level of skillset to provide effective medical care – a step that will ultimately benefit the whole society. With this vision, he founded the American-based ‘Welfare Innovation Foundation’ and Indian-based ‘Swasthya Sevak Sangh’. His formative work experience was in different fields of surgery such as cardiothoracic, vascular, orthopedic and general surgery. He worked in various hospitals in India, England and Ireland, before finally settling down in Florida, USA. Since the past 25 years, he has been practicing Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
